EXPANDING YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT ENGAGEMENT

EXPANDING YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT ENGAGEMENT

The NAACP is expanding the presence of youth consciousness in every aspect of the Association through significant attention to expanding engagement with key age demographic (1979 and after). Young adult engagement will be key in policy research, development and advocacy on all levels. Greater support is being made to enhance the capacity of local units to recruit, engage, train and retain young adults. Innovative approaches are being taken on young adult membership and program engagement.

The next generation of civil rights leaders find a home and support at NAACP. These youth bring the vibrancy and unique perspective that continues our legacy of advocating for Black lives.

The next generation of civil rights leaders is making waves now. Young people under the age of 25 are leading change through 550 junior youth councils, youth councils, high school chapters, and college chapters actively involved in the fight for civil rights and social justice.

The Nyack Branch  NAACP covers Clarkstown, Haverstraw, Orangetown and Stony Point in Rockland County, NY.
The Nyack NAACP  was founded in 1928.  Since its inception, the Nyack Branch has remained vigilant in the struggle for freedom and justice and has acquired significant gains in education, youth work, housing, health, civic engagement and economic development.
